NCC Food Photography Club : In Love With Food
When the time I read about this event on Facebook, I had an idea to make a simple breakfast in bed. From my album, I already have two photos of food with heart shaped, so I sent those photos.
But the newest concept on my head about breakfast in bed really annoyed me. So there was I, on the supermarket bought an artificial rose, bread, a square white plate and a white cup.
I prepared the sets at night, great concept, and I can't wait to meet morning to shoot and capture my idea. I bought the bread in one of bakery shop, with the name of it on the bread cup. I don't like the look of that bread cup. And I covered it with tissue paper and tied it up with golden ribbon. Voilaa .... nice looking.
For the drink I made hot chocolate, and poured it to the cup. Put an artificial red rose for the bright color. I gathered all the things on a wood tray belongs to my mom.
I use the natural light from the open window in the morning. Natural, dramatic and romantic. here are the pictures.
Enjoy....

Cinnamon Apple Roll
Once I make apple pie, I fall in love with the taste and the sweet smell of apple and cinnamon. My first experience making pie crust, failed. I forgot to add ice water to the dough. The second time, my pie crust dough gone too way flabby. Give up ?? Almost.
Then I think of something, cake with apple and cinnamon, without pie crust, of course :D Something fried, with chocolate syrup....mmm....I can imagine the taste of cinnamon apple roll.
Yes that's it....that's the name of my new recipe.
Cinnamon Apple Roll
for 20 servings
Ingredients :
- 20 kulit lumpia / popia pastries (we can find it in every traditional market, my location, Jakarta)
- 500 gr apple (I use apple Malang)
- 2 tablespoon of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder

How to :
- Peel, core and slice the apples. Try to keep the size of the slices even.
- Put apple slices, sugar, cinnamon and water into the pan, and boiled until the water dry.
- Fill the popia pastry with the apple filling, roll and fry them.
- Served with chocolate syrup or you can add vanilla ice cream for topping.

Challenge #2 : EGG
The second theme was EGG and it came from Valens. My concept for this theme was I want to shoot the inside part of the egg. Natural. Actually the deadline for this challenge is still open until February 20th, 2010. But, since I only have free time on Saturday and Sunday, so I decided to take the picture between those 2 days.
I already bought a SLR camera to improve my food photography capability, and to show that I'm serious in this field. But for this challenge, I was using my dearest pocket cam. :D
(Still getting to know better my new friend, and....it's just sooooo hard). Too many buttons, options, and I have to read the manual book over and over again.
Last words, I chose these 3 photos of egg for this challenge. Hope you like it !
Enjoy
Note :
For this opportunity, I was using natural light from the sun light, a reflector on the side and a piece of paper for the table mat.

Challenge #1 : Tea
Frankly speaking, I am a new beginner in food photography. I realized that I do still have a lot to learn to achieve better photos to be enjoyed by others. Starting on January 2010, I encourage myself by sending my food photos to several food photo events.
The next thing happened was, me and two of my friends agreed to shoot food or drink photos, then we show the results to each other. The first challenge theme is TEA. I was the one who throw the idea of this challenge. My idea for this theme is between making Thai tea, hot tea, or lemon tea.
Pouring tea into the cup or pouring milk into the cup of Thai tea, something like that. But, I changed my idea by setting these simple breakfast or afternoon tea party. With the lemon cuts on top of the tea, and chocolate brownies given to me by my mom. :p
Behind the scene : I was bought those two cups a day before I shot the picture. I bought those ones in a small ceramics shop at the shopping center near my office building.
Enjoy....

Personal Leave Day
1st of February, month of love ?
I decided to take a personal leave day from my office, so I can clean up the house, ironing, cooking, relaxing and play with my son.
Then I remember that I have cream cheese and whipped cream, maybe I can use it to make something nice and sweet for him. I intended to make Oreo Cream Pie, but when I check my kitchen, I find plastic ring for cake. So I canceled making Oreo Pie and make just Oreo Cream without the pie then I put the cream inside the ring. Cute...

50 gr butter or margarine, melted
250 gr Cream Cheese, softened
90 gr sugar
400 ml sweetened whipped cream
Directions :
1. Crush 12 of the cookies; mix with butter until well blended. Press firmly onto bottom of the plastic ring. Refrigerate while preparing filling. (for 12 rings)
2. Beat cream cheese and sugar in medium bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add chopped cookies and whipped topping; stir gently until well blended.
3. Put the cream inside of each ring. On the top layer, add oreo cookies.
4. Refrigerate at least 2 hours or until firm.
It tastes creamy like ice cream. You better try this recipe :D
